Ubislate7+ (Aakash 2) Compared with Apple ipad 2

Aakash2 (Ubislate 7+) tablet is primarily made for those students who cannot afford the latest tablets. The tablet made available for just only $35 by the Indian government. Everyone is appreciating the step taken by the government to bridge the wide gap between students of rural and city areas. that is why I think almost 2 million Aakash 2 copies already got booked.


So what we get for $35 in Aakash tablet as compared to the Apple’s iPad2 which costs between $500 to $820, The poor peoples from rural areas simply can’t afford these price. So here we go..

Display : In Aakash2 we get cool 7-inch touchscreen display with the resolutions of – 800×480 pixel (133.28 ppi). On other hand apple’s ipad 2 comes with a bigger screen (9.7-inches) with 1024×768 resolution (132 ppi). The ppi density of both the tablets is almost same. But one costs 35 USD while other costs 500 USD to 800 USD.

Processor : Apple iPad2 is powered by a wonderful 1GHz dual-core Apple-A5 processor. On other hand Aakash2 has 700MHz Cortex A8 processor. Here Aakash2 left behind the ipad2, but the difference is not much as compared to the price deference.

The Operating System :
 Latest Apple iPad2 are being shipped with the iOS5(latest) Operating system installed. While the Aakash2 comes with the android OS 2.3, The same OS version that comes with the Sony’s top-end product Xperia Arc.

Memory and Storage : Aakash 2 comes with the 256MB of RAM and 2GB of inbuilt memory and it also supports external SD card upto 32GB storage. On other hand ipad2 has a 512MB ram installed and the cheapest iPad with 16GB inbuilt storage has a price tag of 499USD and the 32GB iPad costs 599USD. iPad2 don’t have an SD slot.

Support : Aakash2 tablet supports almost all formats of Office documents and many more. The tablet is capable of streaming High Quality videos direct from the internet and also has a HD-720p video playback support. The Apple iPad2 supports videos of full HD 1080p at 30 fps.

Connectivity : Aakash 2 tablet comes with the Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 a/b/g and GPRS(We can make and receive calls here). On other hand apple ipad2 has same Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR technology. While the 3G version of ipad2 can connect to 3g network.

What Aakash2 tablet lacks if compared with Apple iPad2 ?
 Company doesn’t specified if the tablet comes with the 3G technology. Also not information about the camera is specified on their website. The bluetooth support is also not available.

Some extra features :
 The battery backup is bad – Only 180 minutes While apple iPad2 has a 10-Hours of battery backup time. And the censors – Three-axis gyro, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, which are not available in Aakash2 tablet.
